Redmi's In-display Fingerprint reader for LCD Screen

Lu Wei Bing's post on Weibo: a video where In-display fingerprint reading takes place on an LCD Display

Lu Wei Bing on Weibo unveiled a video of how the In-display fingerprint reader works on an LCD screen and it looks like they're going to achieve and use this tech to their upcoming smartphones and possibly to their budget smartphones.

In the past years, In-display fingerprint reader is only available or compatible with OLED and AMOLED screens because it needs to allow more light and pixels to read the user's fingerprint and by that time LCD screens aren't compatible. So some research and developments are conducted to make this happen.

Lu Wei Bing said that they already got the solution and it is through infrared light.
“The innovative use of infrared high-transmittance film material greatly improves the transmittance of infrared light that could not pass through the screen,” - Lu Wei Bing explained.
