Counterpoint research has published market share of mobile chip manufacturers around the world for the second quarter of 2020!

1. Qualcomm - from 33% down to 29%

2. MediaTek - from 24% up to 26%

3. HiSilicon - from 12% up to 16%

4. Apple - from 11% up to 13%

5. Samsung - from 16% down to 13%

6. UNISOC - from 5% down to 4%

Qualcomm's loss of market share was primarily due to US restrictions on Huawei. Post this restrictions, huawei started using HiSilicon chips in its smartphones. With huawei's market share in China growing, Qualcomm chip shipment took a significant in the world's largest smartphone market.

"Qualcomm's share in huawei (including honor) smartphones declined from 12% in Q2 2019 to 3% in Q2 2020", said Neil Shah, VP of research at counterpoint Research.
