Last year, it was announced that Reliance-Jio partnered with Google to make the affordable 5G Phone possible and available for the Indian market. According to the rumors, it will be launching on Q3-Q4 of 2021.
It is believed that the phone will debut at the Reliance AGM 2021 on June 24th and there is no confirmation yet from the telco-giant itself. But if you are interested in it, you can simply tune in to their Youtube launch starting at 2 PM IST.
The said smartphone will be running on a customized version of Android, that is completely optimized for entry-level phones with low storage and RAM capacity. Several reports in the past, said that it will be priced for around Rs. 2,500 and will help 2G-feature phone users to the 5G switch. As Jio always does with their phones, this will be likely bundled with a Jio-plan but there is no information yet about this.
Aside from the Google partnership, Jio also partnered with tech giants such as Qualcomm, Intel, and Facebook.
