After 10 years, Xiaomi’s Mi branding bids farewell. The Chinese firm is reported to drop the branding in favor of just Xiaomi, as per XDA Developers. This means devices under the branding will just carry the company’s name. They started making the change official since the launch of Mix 4. Upcoming smartphones will also follow the change. This possibly means that the upcoming Mi 11T might change to just Xiaomi 11T. However, existing Mi devices will remain unchanged and continue to carry Mi branding.

Xiaomi already sells a number of products that use the Mi branding in China. It seems like it now wants to expand this strategy to other global markets. What remains unknown is that whether or not, the same approach will be applied to other products such as laptops, tablets, fitness bands, and more. While an official statement about this change is still due, we can assume the company to comprise Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco as its three brands. To recall, Xiaomi launched its first Mi smartphone, the Mi 1 back in 2011.
This supposed change comes after Xiaomi becoming the world’s largest smartphone brand. As per a recent Counterpoint Research report, the firm surpassed Samsung in Europe to stand in the first spot. Another report by Canalys suggested that the company became the second-largest smartphone company by winning over Apple.
