The confirmation was held at TECNO's webinar, where Samsung shared some details about the 600MP image sensors meant for smartphones. The said technology was leaked in December last year from an image shared by the Chinese branch of the company via a Zoom meeting.
The prototype shown in the image reveals a massive main camera that occupies 12 percent of the smartphone's rear. The image sensor will have a 1/0.57-inch size larger than the 108MP sensor that has a 1/1.3-inch and 0.8μm size.
Samsung China also mentioned that this new image sensor has an ISOCELL RGBW, which they dubbed as the most "human eye-like" sensor making it a solution to the zoom or 4K/8K video trends. They have also maintained a slimness of 8.8mm to solve the existing problems of a camera bump.
There's no word yet about the use of this sensor for TECNO smartphones. The company's newly released CAMON 18 series was lauded for featuring a Sensor-shift OIS lens and optical zoom lens.
